Floreana Island

Our day in Floreana Island has been filled with diverse and fascinating activities for every taste. Early this morning we went out to one of the most important historical places in the Archipelago, Post Office Bay. After breakfast we explored the diverse and wonderful marine life of the Galapagos Islands. Without any doubt the underwater world was fully enjoyed by our guests, with a superb snorkeling. Large schools of tropical fishes and sea lions were the stars of Champion islet this morning. It seems that they expect to see us every week, to have fun. So we played with them and did what the sea lions taught us to do, dive down, make bubbles, and spin in the water. They love those acrobatic movements! But there were activities for everyone, so many of our guests enjoyed the same wildlife but without having to jump in the water, as we had the glass-bottom boat option too. And for the bird watchers we had a Zodiac ride around Champion to encounter the very famous, and elusive, Floreana mockingbird, considered as one of the rarest species of birds in the world.

After a well-deserved rest, after a well-deserved Ecuadorian lunch, we got on shore at Point Cormorant. Located in the northeastern part of Floreana Island this place offers a beautiful lagoon with Greater flamingoes. It also has a spectacular sandy beach known as the flour beach, due to its white and soft sand. On the picture you can get an idea about the fine texture of this amazing place.

We had another great day in the Galapagos, after which we all came back to our home away from home, the Polaris, dreaming about more things to come.
