Itinerary

Day 1 - Calgary, Alberta

Arrive in Calgary, where the prairies of Alberta meet the foothills of the Canadian Rockies. Meet a Rocky Mountaineer representative at the airport and transfer by taxi to the hotel. Settle in and enjoy the evening at your leisure.

Day 2 - Calgary / Banff

After breakfast, journey west into Banff National Park, where forested valleys, turquoise lakes and snowcapped peaks define Canada’s oldest national park. Ascend Sulphur Mountain on the Banff gondola for panoramic views across the Bow Valley and surrounding ranges, then check into your hotel in time for dinner. (B,D)

Day 3 - Banff

Spend the day exploring Banff and its remarkable surroundings at your leisure. Browse the shops and galleries along Banff Avenue, follow the Bow River Trail to rushing Bow Falls or visit the Whyte Museum to discover the art and heritage of the Canadian Rockies. Dinner is at the hotel this evening. (B,D)

Day 4 - Rocky Mountaineer: Banff / Kamloops

Board the Rocky Mountaineer for a rail journey through the heart of the Canadian Rockies, crossing the Continental Divide and Kicking Horse Pass amid towering peaks, rushing rivers and dense forests. From the train’s bi-level glass-dome coaches and outdoor viewing platform, take in expansive views while enjoying locally inspired cuisine and stories from your onboard hosts about the region’s wildlife, landscapes and history.  Breakfast and lunch are served on board before arriving in Kamloops, set amid the rolling hills and grasslands of British Columbia’s Southern Interior. Transfer to the hotel for an overnight stay. (B,L)

Day 5 - Rocky Mountaineer: Kamloops / Vancouver

Continue west aboard the Rocky Mountaineer as the open landscapes of British Columbia’s Southern Interior give way to steep river canyons and, eventually, the fertile Fraser Valley. Follow the Thompson and Fraser Rivers, passing the narrow gorge and rushing waters of Hell’s Gate in Fraser Canyon before approaching the Pacific Coast. Breakfast and lunch are served on board. On arrival in Vancouver, transfer to your hotel for an overnight stay. (B,L)

Day 6 - Vancouver / Embark Ship

After breakfast, explore the history and culture of Vancouver on a half-day city tour, including a visit to the Vancouver Lookout—the city’s only observation deck, featuring 360-degree views of the region. Continue to the cruise terminal and embark the Greg Mortimer for the start of your Alaska expedition. (B)
