Peter Hillary

Peter Hillary is an accomplished mountaineer, explorer, author and filmmaker. The son of Sir Edmund Hillary and the first second-generation climber to summit Mount Everest, he has reached the summit of Everest five times, completed the Seven Summits and participated in major expeditions across the Himalaya and polar regions.

In 1999, Peter established a new overland route across Antarctica during an 84-day ski expedition to the South Pole. He has also traversed the Himalaya and traveled to the North Pole with Sir Edmund Hillary, Neil Armstrong and Stephen Fossett.

Peter returned to Mount Everest in 2002 to mark the 50th anniversary of his father's historic first ascent with Tenzing Norgay. The expedition was featured in the National Geographic documentary Everest: 50 Years on the Mountain.

He also continues his family's longstanding commitment to the people of the Himalaya as chair of the Himalayan Trust, supporting education, healthcare and community development throughout the region.
