Courtney thrives in dynamic environments, where adaptability, resilience and curiosity aren’t optional, they’re essential. Growing up just outside Chicago helped shape a grounded and resourceful approach that she now brings to life and work at sea. Drawn to environments that are constantly changing, she has developed an appreciation for the unexpected moments and discoveries that come with exploring the natural world.

Driven by curiosity and purpose, Courtney focuses on creating experiences that encourage connection and learning. When she’s not working at sea, she spends her free time exploring beneath the waves through scuba diving, writing ocean-inspired stories as an accomplished children’s author or traveling to other blue corners of the world. Her time underwater and experiences along coastlines continue to influence her storytelling and perspective, bringing together her interests in exploration, education and the ocean.

Now based in La Paz, Mexico, Courtney draws daily inspiration from the ocean and the vibrant coastal community she calls home while still carrying the grounded resilience of her Midwestern upbringing. Whether at sea, underwater or writing for young readers, she values curiosity as a way to better understand unfamiliar places, people and environments. Her experiences continue to shape how she connects with the places she visits and the stories she shares.
