    Cultural Specialist
    Eleni is a native of Athens who studied English from the age of 5. She also developed a passionate interest in history and archaeology at a young age, and completed her degree in those subjects at the University of Athens. She continued her studies with courses and seminars at a number of locations in Greece. She has taught English and Greek, and has been helping travelers discover Greece since 1996.

    Leah grew up in a small coastal town in the Pacific Northwest with Olympic National Park in her backyard, and it was here where her love of all things wild began. Ever since she ran around shipyards at an early age and watched her dad work in the marine trade, she has loved being near water.

  • Max Seigal

    Naturalist/Certified Photo Instructor
    Max Seigal grew up in beautiful Boulder, Colorado, and spent his early years working at his parent’s veterinary clinic, which sparked his love for animals. At a young age, Max fell in love with conservation and travel. He studied abroad in both Costa Rica and the Bahamas during high school, and went on to graduate summa cum laude from Ohio Wesleyan University with degrees in environmental science, zoology, and economics.

  • Patrycja O'Brien

    Expedition Leader
    Patrycja O’Brien was born and raised in Poland, when the borders during the communist time where still closed and travelling was only a dream that could never come true. So following her interests in biology and biochemistry she earned a Master’s degree in biotechnology and also studied languages, fitness and dance. As soon as the times had changed, she completely changed her life, leaving an established carrier in logistics management of a big international company to pursue her travel inspirations, which found her working for a few different travel companies. She lived in Egypt, Cuba and finally southern Spain. It was there that she joined Lindblad Expeditions – National Geographic as assistant expedition leader on Mediterranean and Caribbean sailing voyages in 2008. She likes scuba diving and her biggest interests are whales and dolphins so in her free time between contracts she used to work as a whale-watching guide in Baja California in Mexico.

    A research associate with the Institute of Nautical Archaeology (INA), Rebecca Ingram has studied ancient Mediterranean seafaring and trade since 2000. She earned her M.A. (2005) and Ph.D. (2013) through the Nautical Archaeology Program at Texas A&M University.

    Cultural Specialist
    Born in Piraeus into a family with roots in Macedonia, Greece, “Smaro” majored in sociology at university, then received an M.A. in cultural heritage theory at University College in London. She also completed a three-year course of study at the School of Guides in Athens. She has been guiding university, museum and other groups in Greece since 1998. She is fluent in Greek, English and Italian, and is a member of the World Archaeological Congress and the Initiative of Heritage Conservancy. Smaro enjoys reading, travelling, trekking and — still — studying!
