Fernandina and Isabela Islands

Nov 26, 2018 - National Geographic Endeavour II

National Geographic Endeavour II arrived with the first light of the day to Punta Espinoza, located on the northeastern side of Fernandina Island. This is a spectacular place full of wildlife along the shore, with breathtaking landscapes and crystalline turquoise waters.

In the afternoon, we repositioned to the northwestern side of Isabela Island, the seahorse-shaped island made up of six volcanoes, five of which are considered active and one dormant. We explored the shores of Punta Vicente Roca at the southern flanks of Ecuador volcano, looking for penguins, sea turtles, and flightless cormorants.
