Damon Ramsey

Damon Ramsey's personal aim in life is to experience as much nature and wildlife on our planet as he can.  His professional aim is to promote nature and wildlife through his books, articles, documentaries, lectures, website and guiding.

He completed his biology degree at Charles Darwin University, Northern Territory, and James Cook University at Townsville and Cairns, north Queensland.  Previous to this he gained his qualifications in Outdoor, Adventure and Interpretative Guiding in the Blue Mountains, southeastern Australia. These courses led to a range of research assistant experiences, with rainforest plants, bandicoots, finches, bats, butterflies and cassowaries.  

Damon Ramsey runs “Ecosystem Guides.”  This includes publishing a series of ecosystem-based guide books.  He is the author and photographer of the series and titles including Rainforest of tropical Australia, Ocean Surfaces of Australasia, and Tropical Seashores of Australia. He also runs a free access website which shows people the best locations around the world to see nature and wildlife. He has also produced a series of documentaries exploring the "Tropical Rainforest of Australia."  

For the last decade Damon has worked as a guide and lecturer around the world, including overnight jungle hikes, rock art tours, documentary film crew, 4WD safaris, coral reef cruises, cycle tours, expedition cruises, wildlife & bird-watching tours, and biology, ecotourism & other study programs. 

His work and travel has taken him to parts of southern Africa, North America, Central America, South America, India, Southeast Asia, New Guinea, New Zealand, Polynesia, sub-Antarctica and of course Australia.
